Hempwallace is a historic crossroads community located in Garland County, Arkansas, roughly nine miles west of Hot Springs. It is primarily recognized today as a distinct residential neighborhood and rural region stretching between Hot Springs and Pearcy.

The Namesake: The community was originally named a stop on the historic Mud, Dirt, and Gravel (MDG) Railroad after Josiah Hempstead "Hemp" Wallace.  Wallace was a prominent local figure who invested heavily in Southwest Arkansas timber, farmlands, and banking before his passing in Hot Springs in 1923.
